Maa is waiting for her son Mohan at Mugal Sarai Station. She has learnt that his train shall be halting at this station while he is being transported from Kanpur to Allahabad. Mohan is undergoing life imprisonment for an act which he is not responsible. Its now ten years since mother and son have met.
Neelima a young beautiful girl is waiting on the platform engrossed in a dance by some Gipsy travellers. Vicas a happy-go-lucky man seeing this beauty begins to misbehave by shouldering her. She becomes furious and then he pretends to be innocent.
Neelima’s attention is suddenly drawn by the mother and son who are parting after a very pathetic meeting. She goes to console her and takes her to her house. Maa relates her tale of woe to Neelima and tells her that her son Mohan is innocent, but having no substantial proof for his innocence she is ready to give her life’s savings of Rs. 10,000/- as a reward to the person who proves her son’s innocence.
Neelima advertises for this. Vicas sees the advertisement in news paper and being a press reporter induces editor Karamvir to take a chance, since his paper is in a flop. Vicas goes to contact the party and encounters Neelima and an old lady whose secretary she is.
Neelima introduces him to Maa. He promises to help her. Vicas insists upon and makes Karamvir put a headline stating Mohan’s innocence. This brings them to the eyes of law.
Vicas then meets Mohan and learns that Bindiya and Banarsilal, a hotel proprietor are involved in the whole case.
Neelima’s land-lady, annoyed by the under-hand business going on in her house, turns Neelima and Maa out.
Vicas and Neelima disguised as magicians get an entry into the hotel owner’s services. Maa gets an appointment as a care-taker of a Birds-shop run by Banarsilal the hotel propt. Vicas and Banarsilal are both aware of each other’s identity. Maa’s Bird-shop is the palce from where Banarsilal gets the proceedings of Vicas’s activities. Vicas deliberately gives a false report at Bird’s shop that Bindya is alive, and thus puts Banarsilal on his toes and induces him to make a trip to Shamsher, who had been appointed to murder Bindya ten years ago. Banarsi confirms from Shamsher that Bindya is dead. Vicas at the point of a gun learns from Shamsher that Bindya was killed by him ten years ago. Vicas is convinced the way Shamsher puts it. Vicas leaves dejected. Tomorrow is the court date—there is no trace of Bindya. What happened next, see the suspense cleared on the screen.
